Revised in 2024, this Child Care Foundational Training provides foundational knowledge and skills training for individuals as they begin, or consider, a career in caring for children in a home setting. Content includes exploring the basics of family childcare from foundational business practices to intentionally planning to support growth and development for mixed-age groups. Learners explore rules and regulations governing family childcare businesses and programming. Practices and strategies will be explored to reflect the diverse needs of children and families in Wisconsin. This course fulfills introductory noncredit course requirements as specified in the Department of Children and Families (DCF) Chapters 202 and 250 for family childcare.
DCF requires10.00 Hours of face-to-face time (which could be online via zoom and or by a face-to-face time at a local classroom. This will be specified by your instructor prior to enrolling in the class.
An additional 20.00 Hours of required time for modules to be completed by students are a must. The modules will be monitored by the instructor throughout the course.
